This is really far from a normal drum machine, as I’ve become to know them. Drum synth with sequencer is closer to the truth. Got to give it to the Moog guys, it’s fun to come across something that really surprises you and leaves you wondering what the hell it is all about. I’m looking forward to a huge amount of happy accidents with this one. Oh, semimodular as well. Everything should be semimodular, come to think of it.

I honestly don’t know why I bought this. I have a soft spot for drum machines, but I still never use them the way they should be used. Besides, I think an iPad could be the perfect drum machine that would replace small boxes like this as well as a bunch of control surfaces.

Naturally, I have quite many iPad drum machines, but…I don’t really use them either. I really need to get a grip.

I sold this after Judgment Day.

I have a soft spot for drum machines. I have a soft spot for Clavia. My entire studio could be red. Nice enough, but had that thin plastic Clavia sound, so it became the victim of Judgment Day, as did many other items. Haven’t missed it. Or any of them, actually. Except Frank.

I may have mentioned that I love drum machines. I got this to lay down some serious beats. But I just don’t work that way. This ended up becoming just a sound module, so in the end I sold it as it really didn’t give me anything unique. Solid piece of gear, though.

I always wanted a drum machine. Took me 10 years to get one. I bought this during a period of newly found interest in pure analog sounding music (new John Foxx & Louis Gordon material, mostly), and boy was it worth the money! Extremely easy to use, wide range of possible sounds, and it’s just quite simply very inspiring and a load of fun to use.

Still, I ended up selling this (and other digital gear) to finance an analogue modular synthesizer. I have missed it already, and I will most likely buy another drum machine at some point. Not necessarily an MD, though.
