I started to make music for myself only, and that has only changed slightly over the years. I would describe my instrumental music like this:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Usually quite nice-sounding and melodic, but not terribly interesting or original. Lacks edge.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I think there is some inherent random oddness about some compositional aspects of my music that makes it sound amateurish. This is true especially for the drums. Nothing to do about that except learning by doing. On the other hand, if there wasn\u2019t anything more to learn, I&#8217;d probably do something else. My brother Sami writes the melody and chords and sings the song, and I produce the music. Nitta Nehrenheim&#8217;s lyrics on all and Kari Riihim\u00e4ki&#8217;s guitar on some songs. And not only are they his guitars, he&#8217;s also palying them!<\/p>\n<p>These are actually not finished yet; the vocals will be re-recorded, some annoying details will be fixed, and finally they will be mastered and maybe published somehow. Originally a duo with Jouni (and occasional guests), but currently Trio Duo is Solo. This list is in chronological order, starting with Projektip\u00e4\u00e4llikk\u00f6 from 1999. Personally I think age correlates inversely to quality.<\/p>\n<p>As a fun detail, Projektip\u00e4\u00e4llikk\u00f6 became a national hit among IT nerds (under the name &#8220;Ihanaa ohjelmoijat&#8221;, mostly). One friday night, Jouni and me grabbed a case of beer &#038; some potato chips and started recording (Jouni on vox), and once the song was done a couple of days later, we played it to the guys at work. Instant company-wide hit. After that I sent it out to one (1) person per email, and it didn&#8217;t take long before I started receiving it back from friends asking whether I had heard it. Soon everybody in the business (as well as students) knew it. Nobody knew whodunnit, but there was much speculation and discussion in different forums :-). Occasionally I run into people that for some reason allude to it, and then I feel I need to inform them about its origin. It&#8217;s always worth it. A couple of years ago a customer of ours totally cracked up when he heard it was Jouni and me behind the song that he knew from his youth. Fun memories.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the topic at hand. There&#8217;s also a correlation between the listener&#8217;s degree of intoxication and the perception of how great the songs are. These are my contributions, with other people helping me out with the singing part. Shake the Disease, which I sing, didn&#8217;t make it. No surprise really, as it is quite horrible.
